Common questions
Why doesn't the app show my location?
Check that location access is allowed for Boat Window in your device's Settings. You can also tap the location name and pick a spot on the map instead.
The tides look wrong for my lake.
Lakes don't have meaningful tides, but the app may still find a coastal tide station nearby. Tap the Tides chip at the top of the screen to turn tides off. The fishing score will then use only the moon and daylight.
Why is sea state marked "estimated from wind"?
Marine wave models don't cover most inland water. When there's no wave data for your spot, the app estimates chop from wind speed instead.
How far ahead does the forecast go?
About a week. Forecasts further out are less reliable, so treat later days as a rough guide.
Where does the data come from?
Weather and waves come from Open-Meteo, and tides from NOAA. See the privacy policy for exactly what each service receives.
Safety
Boat Window is a planning aid, not a navigation or safety tool. Always check official marine forecasts and local conditions before heading out.
